I got in my car last night, anxious to get home and get dinner going since I knew that Julie was coming over for a haircut. I wanted to get things at least started and I knew Adam was so excited for his new remote control car that he would probably be working on in the rest of the evening. (I'm glad he's so excited about it - he's like a little kid with a new favorite toy)
I started out from work, being the last one there to lock up knowing Chuck had to come back to lock up the warehouse, and flipped on KSL to listen to their drive home people. I reached over to twist my ring while sitting at the light on 1300 W. Much to my dismay, I grabbed the ring instead of the diamond or even the setting! It turns out, the entire setting for my engagement ring fell off the ring!
I didn't even hear/feel it and didn't hit my hand/ring hard that day. I have no idea when it happened!
I hurried and called Chuck and asked him if he was at the warehouse and if he'd make a quick check around since I was on my way back. I hurried through the light at Redwood Road, flipped a "U-ie" and headed quickly back to the office.
Chuck and I spent the next 20 minutes thoroughly combing the entire office - to no avail.
I called Adam and told him what happened. He wasn't very happy and neither was I. We called the jeweler last night and they said, "that shouldn't happen." I said, "I know. I've never heard of the entire setting falling off a ring like that." They didn't know if they could help though since I couldn't find the ring setting.
Luckily, when I came in to work this morning, I found the setting sitting on the front reception desk. I don't know if it was the janitor or if that's where it fell, but I'm so grateful we found it! Adam's going to take it down to the jewelery store today and hopefully we won't have to pay anything to have it fixed.
